Nexus 7 2nd gen tablet

Behold its glory.

N

exus 7, one of the world’s most popular tablets, strikes again.  At $229 that stellar price point continues to demand an audience as its successor released on June 30, 2013 in the US and other various markets.

The 7″ tablet has received a handful of upgrades.

Performance

Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2 Gigs of ram doubles the snappiness and raw power of the original Nexus 7.

Display

The new Nexus 7 outputs images in 1080p HD with over 2.3 million pixels on display.  The improved pixel density is 323 pixels per inch a 50% boost in quality vs 216 ppi on the old model.

OS

This device is the first to benefit from the new 4.3 Android OS, Jelly Bean.

Price

This device comes at two price points.  At $229, the Nexus 7 features 16 gigs of storage.  The 32 gig version will set you back $269.  As I note there is no microSD storage so take that into consideration when making your purchase.

Media

Nexus 7 features dual speakers with Fraunhofer surround sound.  Also featured is a 1.2 megapixel front facing, fixed focus camera and a 5 megapixel rear facing, auto focus camera.

Battery

The Nexus 7 battery is even improved with 9 hours of media playback or 10 hours of browsing before needing a recharge compared to 8 and 9 respectively for the older version.  It also has built in wireless charging.

Summary

In conclusion, the Nexus 7 is a clear winner when it comes to today’s tablets.  With 2 Gigs of ram, a faster processor, dual speakers, a better screen, and more; the competition has its work cut out for them.  This tablet won’t be beat for a year to come.
