iablo III, a game somewhat marred by a real money AH system, still bathes in a gleam of Blizzard’s polish. 100 paragon levels have been added along the way, and a new quest, the infernal machine, was injected into the game to help incentivize the endless slaughter of Diablo’s horde.

Today Blizzard announced the first true D3 expansion, Reaper of Souls. Blizzard, a company well known for their breathtaking cinematic presentations,  does not disappoint.

At Gamescom, Blizzard pulled back the curtain on several of the gameplay features revealed in Reaper of Souls:

  • A new hero class, the Crusader
  • A new zone, Act V, lush with new environment effects
  • Increased level cap to 70
  • New abilities and spells for each class
  • Extra customization options including new multilevel legendaries
  • More loot
  • More monster types
  • A reworked paragon system
  • More content and longevity
  • New game modes – Loot Runs and Nephalem Trials

This expansion could be the shot in the arm Diablo 3 was looking for to become the best hack and slash dungeon crawler of all time.   An option to have AH free servers would have been a nice touch though.

As Tyrael said in the cinematic, “I pray that it will be enough”.
